Annual Seymour Apple Festival – Weekend Details
Missouri is full of events for children and the family. The 38th Annual Seymour Apple Festival will take place September 9, 10, and 11, 2010. It is located at the Seymour Square at East Market St. and Main St. in Seymour, Missouri, 65746. The weekend event begins with craft booths and vendors opening at 1:00 p.m. on September 9th.
Directions to the Apple Festival if coming from the west (Springfield, Missouri area): travel Highway 60 going east to the Clinton Ave. exit. It’s the first Seymour exit and you will see a McDonald’s at that corner. Follow Clinton Ave. right into town and at the four-way stop, turn right. At that point, you will need to look for parking as it gets packed.
If coming from the east, take Highway 60 going west to C Highway. C Highway will turn into K Highway. Follow that into town where you will see the Seymour Square.
Free Live Music and Entertainment - Double Barrel Band and More
The gospel band, 2 Timbers, plays at the Main Stage on Thursday. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy listening to this non-denominational group of gospel singers. Their motto is “Praise Him so the rocks don’t have to.” For all looking forward to hearing God-honoring music, come out on Thursday to hear 2 Timbers play and worship the Lord.
Two bands play on Friday at the Apple Festival. Southern Streak from Branson, Missouri will be playing from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Their band travels to churches, Silver Dollar City, and various fairs to perform for audiences all over Missouri and beyond. No Jack begins at 7:30 p.m. and goes throughout the rest of the evening.
The Double Barrel Band from Springfield, Missouri, will be playing Saturday evening at 7:30 pm. Their genres are Southern Rock, Classic Rock, and Country Blues. Their desire is to make music that will get people dancing. Street dance with the Double Barrel Band will continue through Saturday evening.
Seymour Missouri Annual Festival Highlights - Friday and Saturday
Most people go to the Apple Festival on Friday and Saturday. Besides music, there will be other activities throughout the two days such as follows:
Friday, September 10:
- Senior Citizen’s Activities at the Gazebo is in the afternoon from 1:00pm to 3:00 p.m.
- Coronation of the Apple Princess is set for 9:00 p.m. This will take place at the Main Stage.
Saturday, September 11:
- The 5k Fun Run kicks off the festivities on the last day. The run will begin at 7:30 a.m.
- Craft booths open at 9:00 a.m.
- Apple pies for judging need to be entered in the morning put on by the Seymour Methodist Church at the corner of Highway 60 and Main.
- The Annual Seymour Apple Festival Parade will begin at 10:00 a.m.
- Various activities such as children's games, apple pie judging, a dance routine, and a silent auction will happen on Saturday.
- Music in the Gazebo with blue grass bands is set to start at 4:00 p.m. and runs for three hours.
Apple Festival Not Just for Apples – Food at the Festival
Some main food options at the annual festival will be the BBQ Beef sandwiches Friday afternoon. On Saturday, the BBQ Beef sandwiches will be back along with chicken sandwiches, served all afternoon until sold out. The Diggins Apostolic Church will have food available too.
When visiting the Land of the Big Red Apple for the annual festival, be sure to remember to bring a camera for the memories you will make and a lawn chair for comfort!
